District-wide Emergency Drill Schedule:
The following memo is being sent to all schools. Ask your Principal or staff Emergency Planning Coordinator how PTA can assist with these drills.
The following memo is being sent to all schools. Ask your Principal or staff Emergency Planning Coordinator how PTA can assist with these drills.
The following dates have been confirmed and approved for the 2007-08 Emergency Drills. Please mark your calendar:
1. Thursday, October 18, 2007, 1:10 PM – Earthquake
2. During the month of February, 2008 - Lockdown
3. Thursday, May 15, 2008, 9:15 AM - Earthquake
Earthquake drill objectives - Thursday, October 18, 2007, 1:10 PM
This will be a full response drill to test all aspects of your plan. We ask you to allocate sufficient time for your teams to work through their responsibilities and truly test your plan. This includes the Controlled Student Release (CSR) procedure. If your staff needs CSR training, please contact [Patrick Fitzpatrick] to schedule.
In addition, we ask you include:
1. Duck, Cover, and Hold.
2. Building evacuation and reassembly at gathering point.
3. Take roll.
4. Conduct building assessment.
5. Search and rescue.
6. Assignment of communications person to man the radio and emergency phone to respond to the District EOC calls.
7. Complete emergency report form and mail to Fitz Fitzpatrick at the Administration Building.
Lockdown drill objectives (date to be determined by each individual site during month of February 2008)
Please call Fitz @ 408-7695 once you have selected your drill date and time. On that date/time, lock down and check for unsecured doors and windows. Blinds ought to be drawn and all windows covered. Students should be down below window level, out of sight, and quiet. Upon completion of the drill, fill out the emergency report form and mail to Fitz Fitzpatrick at the Administration Center.

This drill will incorporate items 1 – 7 outlined (above) in the fall drill.
Inventory - We are requesting an inventory of supplies from each container. Last year we lost supplies to theft as well as moisture. An up-to-date inventory helps in the recovery of such losses. Please inventory your supplies and send a copy to Fitz Fitzpatrick by October 31, 2007. If you need forms for this or have questions, contact Fitz @ 408-7695.
